Paul E. Cutarelli, M.D., is one of the most experienced LASIK and vision correction specialists in the United States. He has extensive training and expertise in correction of refractive and presbyopic errors of the eye. Dr. Cutarelli has performed most of his more than 50,000 LASIK and LASEK refractive procedures in Colorado, and is among the first to perform EpiLASIK and CK in Denver and Colorado Springs. He is one of only a handful of refractive surgeons to have completed a full one-year fellowship specifically in refractive surgery, as well as an additional fellowship in corneal training and corneal transplant surgery.

Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Cutarelli is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He has consulted nationally as a laser vision expert and has served as a clinical consultant worldwide.

Before moving to Colorado, Dr. Cutarelli served as Director of Refractive Surgery and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at University Hospitals of Cleveland, where he was the Director and founder of the refractive surgery fellowship-training program, and full-time faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where he taught medical students and ophthalmology residents and fellows.

Dr. Cutarelli earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University and completed his ophthalmology residency at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital's Wilmer Eye Institute. He received fellowship training in cornea and anterior segment surgery and ocular disease at the prestigious Moorfield's Eye Hospital in London, the largest academic eye institute in Europe. He completed a full one-year fellowship in refractive surgery at the highly respected Hunkeler Eye Centers.

Dr. Cutarelli's research activities include more than 15 FDA clinical trials for excimer lasers used in refractive surgery (including Bausch & Lomb (Chiron), Alcon (Summit), and Nidek), as well as one of the earliest clinical trials studying LASIK, and a study on the surgical correction of presbyopia. He participated in the FDA clinical trials leading to the development of Intacs (Keravision, Addition Technology) and completed research as a co-investigator for a National Eye Institute study of refractive surgery.

Dr. Cutarelli is the author of numerous scientific papers and book chapters, including a leading reference comparing the various excimer lasers for LASIK and PTK.
