The Visian Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) provides vision correction that goes beyond LASIK. It helps you enjoy sharper, clearer, and more vivid vision, with greater depth and dimension. It’s called High Definition Visian, and it’s available only with the Visian ICL.
When compared to other refractive surgical procedures, the Visian ICL creates sharper vision. The immediate improvement of vision quality and the remarkably short and painless recovery produces a unique "WOW!" factor. The "High Definition Vision” delivered by the Visian ICL makes this proven, technologically advanced vision correction procedure the choice for patients who need and expect high quality results. In fact, the U.S. military has embraced the Visian ICL because of the reliable visual clarity it achieves. The Visian ICL is clearly the choice for patients with an active lifestyle and those who cannot accept anything less than the highest quality vision. The ICL is designed to be permanently placed inside the eye behind the iris (colored part of the eye) and in front of the eye's natural lens. It corrects vision problems much the same way as an external contact lens. The STAAR Visian ICL is made of a soft biocompatible co-polymer of Collamer and Fibronectin designed to be easily implanted in the eye. The ICL is engineered to vault over the natural crystalline lens of the eye. The Visian ICL™ may be an option for some who are not good candidates for LASIK. It may be used as an alternative to LASIK in patients who are very nearsighted or those who don't want to make permanent changes to their eyes. Although it's designed to be permanent, the ICL can be removed and replaced. Over 100,000 ICL lenses have been already implanted worldwide. Some studies have shown that the image quality achieved with the Visian ICL is sharper and clearer than that achieved through LASIK.
The procedure to implant the Visian ICL™ is very similar to cataract surgery, except the patient's natural lens is not removed. The STAAR Visian ICL has been designed to be easily inserted through a small self-sealing corneal incision using an injection cartridge. The tip of the injection cartridge containing the pre-folded ICL is introduced into the anterior chamber and the ICL is slowly extruded into the eye under the protection of a clear viscoelastic material that has been previously placed in the anterior chamber to protect the cornea and the crystalline lens. As the ICL is advanced from the cartridge into the eye, it slowly unfolds until it assumes its final plate configuration. After the ICL has been completely released into the eye, it is seated on the iris supported by its four corners (haptics). Schedule your appointment at our Denver or Fort Collins office. 303-486-2020
